    About Us

Well, "about us" is really about me (Ken Dockery) since I am working as an
individual consultant, contractor, temp, or employee.

Because I wish to help you with your HR challenges, it is probably most important
for you to know that I have many years of experience in human resources
functions.  But, please don't be impressed or turned off by the 35+ years.  It's more
important for you to know that I have had the wonderful opportunity to work in
almost every type of human resources job.

    So, my experience includes:

  • Recruitment, hiring, and retention of employees
  • Training and development
  • Benefits management and administration (including health and dental insurance,
401(k), defined benefit plans, medical leave benefits, wellness programs, COBRA,
    etc., etc.
  • Salary management and administration
  • HR budgeting
  • HR Department start up
  • Payroll management, administration, and start up
  • Human resource information systems
  • Labor negotiations and labor relations
  • Employee communications
  • HR policy development
  • Employee handbooks
  • Affirmative action and EEO
  • Immigration
  • Employee relations and union avoidance.

My job roles have included everything from HR Assistant to Vice President of
Human Resources.  I have worked for small, medium-sized, and large companies,
including those in the categories of services, manufacturing, engineering, retail,
    and wholesale distribution.

It's also important for you to know that I have always taken a hands-on approach to
my work in HR.  So, I am much more at home with working on specifics and details
than dishing out the latest theory.

Speaking of theories, I did have my fill of them when I was in the Organizational
Behavior PhD program at University of North Carolina.  I didn't finish the program,
but I did learn why the chicken crossed the road.

I did manage to complete my MBA in Human Resources at Mount Saint Mary's
College.  My undergraduate work was at East Tennessee State University, where I
received a BS in English, minor in Psychology.

I like numbers, spreadsheets, statistics.  Along the way during my HR years, I
completed all the Accounting courses required for a degree, and completed half of
the CPA exam before I ran out of time.

OK.  that's probably more than you ever wanted to know about me, but if you have
questions, just send me an email.
Important stuff to me but maybe not to you:
My wife Dianne and I have four children and a
"lot" of grandchildren (I hesitate to publish a
number because the family keeps growing).
About ten years ago, Dianne and I started a
ministry to Russian orphans, and we continue
coordinating that ministry today.  If you have
interest, you can read more on our website
for the ministry:
